We are looking for a class teacher to become our first Year 6 class in September 2026. Our original IKB students will be reaching the final stage of their primary school journey and we are looking for a strong experienced Year 6 teacher to guide them through this pivotal year.

This specific role is a unique chance to be the first teacher of Year 6 at IKB. This gives applicants the opportunity to develop this crucial year of primary education alongside the school SLT in an effective and exciting way. We look forward to working alongside teachers who are experienced in preparing children for SATs and life beyond primary school and welcome applications from candidates with a clear vision of how this can be successful. We are committed to supporting our Year 6 cohort to reach their potential and be fully prepared for the next stage of their academic journey.

The role will be based at IKB Primary School which opened in September 2020 to Reception pupils and has grown organically by a year group with every following year. Our class teachers work closely with the Headteacher and existing teachers to plan and deliver an appropriate curriculum that meets the needs of each child. The role also involves embracing the shared values which are reflected in our teaching and how our children learn.  You should be a committed and high-quality teacher able to take on the unique challenges a growing school offers.

In return we offer the opportunity to work with a nurturing and supportive team, who are open to new and innovative ideas and ways of working to support that important work life balance.

Job purpose:

  • To plan and prepare lessons that support effective curriculum delivery.
  • To deliver the curriculum in a manner that meets the needs of individual children.
  • To create an inviting and stimulating teaching environment within the classroom.
  • To have a well-informed vision for the curriculum and be committed to a culture of continuous improvement.
  • To support and contribute to attempts to achieve continuous improvement in all aspects of the work of the IKB and the Trust.
  • To implement an effective and positive approach to behaviour management that supports high quality learning.

We highly recommend and encourage all prospective candidates to visit IKB, prior to applying, for a tour. If you would like this opportunity please see our application pack for tour dates and then email the school with your preferred time.
