Clyst Vale is a thriving and vibrant 11-16 Community College situated five miles from Exeter. Visitors to Clyst Vale usually comment on the friendly, orderly atmosphere, the courtesy of our students, and the purposefulness in lessons. We have clear expectations and systems, but far more important are the excellent working relationships we establish between staff and students, as well as staff and parents. We remain the only Secondary school in Devon to be accredited Gold Rights Respecting School status.
The role
We are seeking a committed and enthusiastic Grade D Teaching Assistant to join our supportive and friendly team. The successful candidate will work closely with teachers to support high quality learning, provide targeted interventions, and help create a positive, inclusive environment for pupils who are starting at a new provision within the College.
The Supported Learning Group (SLG) comprises of 15 Year 7 students who joined us in September. These students follow a highly differentiated, primary style curriculum, covering a broad range of subjects in Key Stage 3 and then working towards functional skills and life skills qualifications in Key Stage 4. This is a unique opportunity to work with students who have EHCPs with needs in communication and interaction and cognition and learning who are extremely vulnerable but keen to attend school and access learning.
The role will involve supporting students in their specialised and mainstream lessons; developing strong working relationships with their teachers, running 1:1 and small group interventions and becoming one of the trusted key adults in their team. The role will involve working exclusively with this class and following them from Year 7-11 as they move up through the College.
Please see the job description and person specification for full details of the role.
