We are looking to appoint a high quality, enthusiastic Teacher of Food and Nutrition (ideally with the ability to teach DT as well) to join the department. If you have the desire to make a real difference to the lives of young people and want to join a team of highly dedicated staff, then we would love to hear from you. We have exceptional practical facilities and newly refurbished food rooms.
This role would be suitable for an experienced teacher or an ECT looking to start their teaching career within a MAT which provides lots of opportunities as well as working within a supportive department.
Axe Valley is a wonderful school to work in, with brilliant students who deserve the best from staff. We are proud of our recent Ofsted Good judgement but have the vision to drive for even greater things in the future. Axe Valley is well respected in the local community. We have higher than national average numbers of students on the SEND register as a result of a strong SEND provision and we pride ourselves on the high standards of behaviour that are in place across the school. The success of vulnerable students is at the heart of our self evaluation. We are excited to continue to improve and are looking for a dedicated leader who is passionate about improving the life chances of vulnerable students.
One of the twelve schools within the Blackdown Education Partnership, Axe Valley currently has approximately 750 students in Years 7–11. The Academy is located in East Devon, in the beautiful market town of Axminster, which is set on the River Axe. Axminster is just a few miles inland from the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site but has excellent rail links to London and Exeter.
This is a really exciting post for a candidate who wants to make a difference to our students.
We can offer :-
A supportive team, both in the school and the wider trust
Access to networking events across the wider trust
Opportunities for training and development
Staff wellbeing offer, including access to counselling
Cycle to work scheme
We would very much encourage potential candidates to come and see Axe Valley and have a tour around the school. Please get in touch with Liz Heron (PA to Headteacher and HR Co-ordinator) to arrange a visit.
Axe Valley Academy is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. We particularly welcome applications from under represented groups including ethnicity, gender, transgender, age, disability, sexual orientation or religion.
As part of our due diligence process when shortlisting, we may carry out an online search of publicly available material to identify any incidents or issues which we might want to explore with the applicant at interview.
